Sitting top of the National League table, Macclesfield Town have now turned their attention to the FA Trophy.

They travel to Halifax on Tuesday for the opening round of a competition that they performed so admirably in last season, having just lost out to York City in the final.

The winners will take on Maidenhead United at home in the next round.

Silkmen captain, Jared Hodgkiss, is looking forward to the game at The Shay and believes this game can present an opportunity for his side to continue their strong run of form.

“It’s a good opportunity for us to continue the way we’ve been playing,” he said.

“Obviously, it’ll be a tough game - Halifax have been playing well. It’ll no doubt be cold up there too alongside it, so it’s shaping up to be a challenging one.

“As players, you want to be playing, especially when you’re in the position that we find ourselves in. We are all just looking to keep this run of form going and hopefully, we can continue it on Tuesday night.

He also went on to say that team spirit has been a big part of the success.

“The atmosphere between the boys is brilliant at the minute.  “We all know, though, that we have to keep our feet on the ground because it can change at any time, but, we all want to do something special this season.”
