Macclesfield returned to winning ways on Saturday with a 0-2 win at Barrow and skipper Jared Hodgkiss was certainly pleased to play his part.
Elliott Durrell scored the second goal of the game with a screamer for his fourth goal of the season. However, the scorer of the first goal was an unexpected one.
Right-back Hodgkiss scored his first goal in a Silkmen shirt after bombing up the pitch, playing a neat one-two with Danny Whitaker and neatly finishing past the goalkeeper.
Jared spoke to www.mtfc.co.uk recently, with his thoughts on the game and his first goal.
“It’s nice to score. It doesn’t come about very often, I don’t even score in training, so it was nice to score on Saturday and the team winning capped it off as well!
“The main thing was getting the three points and I thought the boys fully deserved it on Saturday.
“Barrow is a really tough place to go to and I thought we coped with that well especially in the second half when they put some big men up front and bombarded the ball forward but we dealt with it well.
“We came into the game on three back to back losses, so it was nice to get the win and bounce back.
“The three games we lost in I thought we played quite well in and we didn’t deserve to lose all three. So, the same performance levels were taken into Saturday as well, as we still had a lot of confidence still and we did the job.
“Were doing quite well so far in the league but we’ve got to keep our feet on the floor and long may it continue.”
