Macclesfield goalkeeper Shwan Jalal says he is looking forward to facing Wrexham for the chance of going back to the top of the league, rather than the sentimental feeling of facing a former club.
Shwan played for Wrexham last season, but says the feeling of returning was dealt with in the opening day victory over the Dragons.
Speaking ahead of the game, he said: “The covers are on, we’re getting the team prepared, and personally I’m looking forward to that game and being on the pitch.
“I sort of got over the feeling of returning when we went there at the opening day of the season – where it was nice to get three points – but we’re in a different situation now, 23 games later. Both teams are fighting for top spot, so it’s a nice position to be in.
“It’s a big game. There’s going to be a good crowd and the players are eager to get on the pitch and hopefully get a positive result.”
Asked if the match being broadcast live on BT Sport adds to the atmosphere, he said: “Yeah, I think it does. The National League will be in the spotlight on the TV so it’s up to us players to make a good spectacle of it and make it a good advert for the league.”
