This Saturday the Silkmen will return to action with a trip to Bromley in the Vanarama National League.
It’s been two weeks since Macclesfield played a competitive game, after the FA Trophy tie(s) with FC Halifax Town were postponed twice.
Earlier this season John Askey’s men were held to a 0-0 draw with Saturday’s opponents and this time they’ll be wanting to take all three points back to Moss Rose.
Shwan Jalal kept a clean-sheet in that game and he’s taken some time out to speak to www.mtfc.co.uk ahead of the game.
“Obviously we’re disappointed with Halifax being called off,” Said Jalal
“Some of the players were looking forward to playing in that game but the safety issues were more important but now we’re looking forward to the game on Saturday.
“Recovery wise, the two-week break has helped us but also when you’re winning matches you want to keep on playing well.
“I think every player wants to keep playing but it’s given us a good time to rest and get ready for Saturday.
“We’re full of confidence, the manager has made us fully aware of that and we’re top of the league now and we have to stay there, we can’t just rest on our laurels we’ve got to look forward.”
Bromley, along with the likes of Sutton United and Maidstone, have a 4G playing surface and Jalal admits that the 4G pitch may take some getting used to.
“Bromley will be a tough test, it’s no secret that when you go and play on a 4G pitch it gives the other side an advantage as they’re more used to the surface.
“We’re expecting a tough test, they came up to Moss Rose in the summer and they were tough opposition so we’re expecting more of the same on Saturday.
“The artificial surface is the same for every player, I’m not the greatest fan of them and I think if you speak to other players they’ll say the same thing, but it is what is and we’ve got to get on with it and play our game as we did against Wrexham."
