The Bank Holiday certainly ended in style for the Silkmen with victory over Chester supported by a tremendous travelling fanbase.
One of the players to enjoy the occasion was Mitch Hancox – making an appearance in the starting line-up and playing the full 90 minutes.
He spoke to SilkmenTV after the game: “It is massive, to say we have built on the result from the other night, and I think that after two bad results it is important to get back to winning ways and I thought the lads were brilliant."
The three points against Chester was the second win of the Bank Holiday period after a 1-0 win over Dover on Friday. These victories followed a difficult couple of losses on the road.
“They were both tough games away to Sutton and Gateshead but the lads are brilliant and we knew we could get a good run together we’ve got a run of games now which are all going to be tough but if we keep the momentum high and go into the next game with our heads up, we can go for it and try and get another three points.”
The fans made the trip across the county in numbers, and despite our tough run have been supportive throughout.
“We could hear them throughout the game today. The fans are always brilliant especially when we come to local derbies…Tranmere, Wrexham and Chester. Credit to all of them for coming this way.”
