It’s been a great week for Pilkington who not only helped Macclesfield collect three points and a clean sheet, but he was also nominated for an award in the North-West Football Award’s alongside teammate Mitch Hancox.
However, the centre back isn’t resting on his laurels as he’s looking to use his experience in the game to help the Silkmen make a surge for the top spot.
Speaking to Macclesfield Town’s official YouTube channel Silkmen TV recently, George said: “I’ve got experience so hopefully that helps the other players out.
“It was a tough game against Torquay for different reasons. They threatened from set-pieces and in general we played okay but Saturday against Aldershot will be a tough test.”
“It’s been an excellent start to the season and the lads that have played have done fantastically well.
“I think the league feels a lot more open this season, more than it has ever done in previous years, there’s no team running away with it so far and we are more than capable having a run to the top ourselves.”
Now the team’s attention turns to Saturday’s fixture against Aldershot in what Pilkington says will be the toughest test of the season so far.
“I think on Saturday it will be the toughest test of the season. We are within touching distance of the top but we’re not thinking of that just yet, but we need to bounce back at Moss Rose and get our home form back on track and that’s what we’ll be looking for on Saturday.”
