Tyrone Marsh’s winning goal against his former club was not the only talking point as Friday Night football entertained fans at Moss Rose. David Fitzpatrick made his 100th appearance, and spoke to SilkmenTV after the game.
“I only found out yesterday it was my 100th game so it was a bit of a surprise because I have only been here for two years. I’m really pleased with that and to mark it with a win is crucial.”
Once again Fitzpatrick and defenders came under aerial pressure from the visitors but managed to prevent a Dover goal: “We’ve come up against that the last few games so we know what to expect in this league, but we still tried to play a little bit in the second half and I thought overall we did okay.”
“We had them penned in for about 25 minutes in the second half but you have got to expect them to start pumping it in a little bit more towards the end, and they went very direct, big lads but we stood up well.”
It’s a busy Bank Holiday period for the Silkmen, with the games coming thick and fast. Next up is today’s game away to Chester – one the fans always enjoy.
“We said earlier in the week the two games in Bank Holiday are crucial and we need to pick up points quick, we don’t want to fall too far behind even though it is early.”
“We did well there last year, played some really good football, the pitch is normally quite good so it might suit us a bit to play some good football.”
