Despite having only signed for the club last summer, midfielder Elliott Durrell has already become a fan's favourite at the Moss Rose after a scintillating debut season.
Weighing in with eight crucial goals last term, Elliott also collected the National League Player of the Month Award for February - as well as being named in their illustrious Team of the Year.
The former Chester man captivated us all with performances which played a pivotal role in our championship winning season, yet the 28 year old is now looking ahead to life in the Football League.
Speaking to www.mtfc.co.uk Elliott stated -
"My summer was obviously extended a little bit, having being injured at the back end of last season. But like all the lads in the footballing world, by mid June we are all ready to come back and looking to hit the ground running from day one."
The Silkmen stormed to the National League title back in April, suffering just two defeats between late October and the memorable final game against Dagenham and Redbridge.
The determination and tenacity of the whole squad to notch up such an impressive run is something which Elliott is desperate to carry over into the new season -
"We obviously worked hard to get that momentum going and we want to keep it going as long as possible – you saw that last season with the string of results we put together at an important stage of the season.
We want to come back in, work hard right from the off and give this league a really good go!"
The step up to the Football League is clearly not one which phases anyone at the club and although there is an incredible amount of hard work ahead, there is no reason whatsoever why we cannot be successful once again as Elliott states -
"We played Forest Green last year in the FA Cup and I think that we were probably the better team that day.
For the first half hour we probably paid them a bit too much respect, but there is no reason why we can't really do something in this league.
You look at the likes of Lincoln last year – that's what we are going to try and do.
We will set out stall out as high as possible and look to achieve good things again"
