Saturday saw the Silkmen pick up another three points with a 2-0 victory. The goals came from Ryan Lloyd – just 21 seconds in – and Elliott Durrell who added a second. SilkmenTV spoke to the winger after the match:
He said: “It was a big game for us, we had to bounce back from the disappointment of the last home game and we have worked hard all week, and thankfully it has come to fruition.”
“We always want to start well and if you look at the games we have done well in this season it’s important that we start well. We set the tempo today and scored inside a minute which sets us up nicely.”
It was another classy performance from Durrell who worked hard tracking back for the team as well as getting his goal.
“This is what I was brought here to do, create chances and chip in with goals when they come. They don’t come any sweeter than that today so it was nice to get the victory and the most important thing was the three points.”
“We build our base on clean sheets – if you don’t concede goals you don’t lose games. That’s what we set our stall out to do and with the players that we have got in and around the squad there’s plenty of goals there. It doesn’t matter who is scoring the goals as long as we are scoring we are happy for whoever it is.”
Unsurprisingly eyes are beginning to turn to the National League table with the Silkmen just one point off the top and Durrell was quick to highlight that consistency is key.
“It’s tight, nobody is running away with it. It’s important that you keep winning the games you’ve got and there’s no bigger team to beat than Aldershot who were up above us at the start of the day. We are delighted with the win but we have to follow it up now and our attention turns to Tuesday where we have got another big game and we will be looking for the three points which will put us right up there.”
