After a 5-0 victory over Stourbridge the Silkmen drew Forest Green Rovers in the first round of the FA Cup. The League Two side are familiar opposition for Macclesfield Town after being promoted from the National League last season.

Elliott Durrell spoke to Silkmen TV about the draw and his own recent good form.

“I think we could have hoped for a side below us at home or we could have hoped for a glamorous Blackburn away but that is the beauty of the FA Cup, you play who you get drawn and it’s just another game.

"They are struggling in the Football League this season but I know from my experience of playing against them that they are a good team so it is down to us to go to their territory and put on a good performance and get a result.”

“It is nice to be scoring goals and creating goals for the lads but it is about the team, and as long as the team is winning that is the most important thing. We all want the same thing in the team and as long as we are all pulling in the right direction we can achieve what we believe this season.”

With the Silkmen in good form several teams will have been grateful Forest Green have the task of taking them on in the first round…

“I think there will be a lot of teams that are thankful for avoiding us but they are obviously going to be looking at it as a winnable tie as well, but we are looking at it like that too. We will go into the tie confident and be looking to progress to the next round.”
