Macclesfield’s Elliot Durrell claims the squad are ready for the coming National League season following a successful pre-season.
The Silkmen ended their pre-season campaign with defeat at home to Blackpool, but showed signs of real promise as they produced a multitude of chances against the League One outfit.
Speaking after the game, Durrell said the squad has gelled well in a short space of time, and the boys are excited to begin what looks to be a promising campaign.
He said: “We’ve gelled together really well considering it’s pretty much a new squad. It’s important that we have a good week next week leading up to the Wrexham game, and it’s important that we hit the ground running in the league.
“Everything we do now in the week will be looking ahead to the game with Wrexham. We’re excited – I hope the fans are excited – and it’s just vital that we start well next week. We’ve come through pre-season unscathed and it’s another important week now.
“Obviously I was at Wrexham myself so I know Dean will have put a good squad together. We’re going to have to expect what we expect every week – they’re going to be up for it, there will be a big crowd there supporting them, and there’s no easy place to go – if we go to Wrexham and put our marker out, a positive result sets us up perfectly for the season.”
