Macclesfield Town would like to thank all of sponsors, players and supporters who turned out at inaugural cricket day!
The Twenty20 challenge match at Macclesfield Cricket Club was certainly one to remember for all those in attendance.
A Macclesfield Town Sponsors XI set John Askey’s XI 143 to win the game after some impressive batting from Martin Barrow from ‘o2 Macclesfield’
After some early wickets fell in the chase, Shwan Jalal and Courtney Richards set up a tense finish.
It all meant that the John Askey’s side needed one run off the final ball of the game and when umpire and former Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Corrigan adjudged that new signing Tyrone Marsh was run out chasing a quick single the game ended in a controversial but enjoyable draw.
