Tonight, we welcome Bury to Moss Rose for our second pre-season friendly of the summer with John Askey’s side looking to bounce back from their defeat against Derby County Saturday.

Despite losing 2-0 to one of the Championship promotion favourites, there were plenty of positives to take out of the game for the new look Macclesfield side.

A number of Silkmen players made their debuts, including Courtney Richards who is now looking forward to tonight’s challenge against the Shakers.

Speaking to mtfc.co.uk Richards said; “It was good to get 45 mins under my belt, it’s been a while but onwards and upwards.

“I think if we can get the squad together, settle down and get the best out of the side we’ll be fine.”

The former Torquay United captain has openly expressed his delight in joining the Silkmen and has said that his aim is to take Macclesfield to the ‘next level’.

Richards played 45 minutes of Macc’s first pre-season friendly against Derby and after the match spoke about his first game for the club.

“it was a good match we held our own, we listened to what the gaffer said and took his instructions on board and it I thought it went well.

“The boys did well when they came on, Derby just had that quality in the final third but it was an enjoyable debut.”
