New Signing Noe Baba believes that joining Macclesfield Town is a great opportunity for him to discover his love of football again after his signing was confirmed by the club on Friday.
The versatile 20-year-old has, so far, featured for The Silkmen in the pre-season outings against Bury and Stockport and now admits that he can’t wait for the season to get started.
Baba was born in Cameroon but attracted interest from Manchester United during a spell playing for Ireland in their underage sides.
“Obviously I left Birmingham at the end of last season and that was a big disappointment for me,” said Baba.
“I went looking for somewhere to bounce back and I believe this Football Club is the perfect opportunity for me to rediscover my love of football again. That is the opportunity I have been given and I’m very grateful to everyone at Macclesfield Town for that.
“I’m going to be 21 next month, so, looking ahead I believe I am ready for first team football. It’s a good chance for me to bring my experience and everything I’ve learned here and show the fans what I can do.
“I’m extremely versatile and I played everywhere when I was younger. To me, that was a very good experience. It taught me how to read the game in various areas and develop into the player I am, but obviously, as I got older, I needed to be more disciplined and put myself into a position. My main target is to make a central midfield spot my own, however.”
The former Fulham and Birmingham City man also took the time to mention the Macclesfield supporters and acknowledged how important they will be in the season ahead.
“I really hope we can get as many fans at the games as possible because that’s extremely important to us. Ultimately, we play for the Football Club but we also play for their support.
“It would be great to get as many out here as we can.”
