Halifax were a familiar opponent for Macclesfield Town as they finally got their FA Trophy campaign underway at the third time of asking at the Shay. After falling to a narrow 1-0 defeat, after league victories against the same opposition on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, attention returns to the National League.
It was a night the Silkmen looked out of luck as several chances passed them by, as their eleven match unbeaten run came to an end. Noe Baba came into the starting XI for the game, and spoke to SilkmenTV after the game.
He said: “It was a bit of a tough night for us because we have been playing well the last couple of weeks, and the result is disappointing because we wanted to keep the winning run going but we will learn from this and move onto the next game now.”
The previous victories against Halifax showed the quality of the squad, but at times it looked as though it just wasn’t the Silkmen’s night;
“We made a lot of chances but sometimes it just doesn’t go for you, with all the chances we had in other games a lot of them would have gone in. It just wasn’t our night.”
The Silkmen now have a rare Saturday off in the busy fixture period, with the next game a trip to AFC Fylde on the 20th.
