Askey On Trophy Tie

Silkmen boss John Askey says the approach to Tuesday’s FA Trophy tie with Halifax has not changed, despite the late fixture rearrangement.

Macclesfield have twice been chalked in to face Halifax in their first round Trophy tie, but the game has twice been postponed due to adverse weather conditions affecting the pitch.

Should they beat Halifax on Tuesday evening, they will face Maidenhead at the Moss Rose this Saturday.

Speaking ahead of the match, Askey suggested there will be some squad rotation – within his capabilities – but that he has confidence in the players who come into the side to get the job done.

“The approach hasn’t changed,” he said. “There are players who need a game, and we know those who come in are capable of getting a result for us. That will be the same on Tuesday.”
