Askey On Tranmere Test

Macclesfield Town manager John Askey says his side up for the test as they prepare to face Tranmere at the Moss Tuesday evening.

Tranmere currently sit in 15th place, five points off the play-offs and nine behind the Silkmen, but nonetheless shone last season as they made the play-offs and the FA Trophy semi-final and looked like one of the league’s top teams.

Speaking ahead of the game, Askey said: “We’ve always had good games with Tranmere. I think apart from dodgy refereeing we’ve more than matched them! Hopefully we can match them again.

“We’ve got to have the same attitude that we’ve had all season if we want to get a result. There are no easy games if we want to get a result as we saw against Boreham Wood. Tranmere will be a decent game and hopefully the crowd will turn out again.

“I know it wasn’t a great spectacle against Boreham Wood but those who understand football will know it takes two teams to make an entertaining football match. Tranmere will play some similar football to them but you never know what’s going to happen.

“Turn up every week and you’ll see some good games and some not so good games – but most of the supporters want to see us win, which is all we’re trying to do.”
