As we approach the third month of the National League season, Silkmen boss John Askey discussed his thoughts on the season so far, with Macclesfield Town in eighth position.
Askey spoke to SilkmenTV as his side begin preparations for Saturday’s home fixture against Aldershot.
John said: “It has been a funny season so far, no one in the league has been outstanding and we are in the mix. We are two points off the top and in a good position. If at the start of the season you had said we would be in this position now I would have been really pleased.”
The National League has been particularly unpredictable this season with the teams in the top half of the table separated by just a handful of points.
“It just shows there is very little difference between the teams and if you aren’t on top form then you can be beat and that goes for any team in the league. Although we played Torquay on Saturday who are bottom they aren’t as poor of a team as the league suggests, they have got some decent players and I am sure they will climb the table. Whoever we play we know we are in for a game.”
With a quarter of the season played eyes are beginning to turn to the league table, and ultimately end of season aims and Askey is pleased with our start.
“If we can keep this kind of form going then we would be in the play-off positions so it is a decent start.”
