Askey On Orient Result

Macclesfield Town

John Askey was left delighted as Macclesfield stretched their winning run to six games and continued to top the National League.

Macclesfield came away eventual 1-0 winners thanks to another goal from September player of the month Scott Wilson, with the clean sheet looking even more impressive following the injury to Shwan Jalal.

Speaking after the game, Askey said: “The run keeps going and it’s a great result – there’s not really a lot more to add! The players are full of confidence and things are going well for us. We hope it continues but it’s still early days.

“There’s one or two knocks and with having such a small squad it would only take one or two serious injuries to put us down to bare bones. We do have people who can come in but as we know from previous seasons it can cost you to have injuries. We need to bring people in and strengthen the squad if we want to continue this kind of form."
