Sitting in third place in the National League, the Silkmen will go into Saturday’s game against Maidenhead in confident mood.

But John Askey says that they will anticipate another tough away day as they bid to climb back to the National League summit. SilkmenTV spoke to manager John Askey to discuss what he expects from the opposition.

“They have got good players and are more than holding their own. It will be another game to look forward to, we haven’t played at Maidenhead before so it will be a new experience but one we are looking forward to.”

Maidenhead would perhaps have been a side expected to struggle this season, but the unpredictability of the league has meant the Magpies find themselves in 12th position in the National League table.

Askey highlighted the unpredictability of the league: “It is very tight at the top of the league; the top spot keeps changing. Wrexham who played Solihull on Tuesday were apparently lucky to get the win so it just shows that there is nothing in the league from top to bottom. We have just got to keep our heads down and keep going.

“I think we are performing well and if you do that then the points come. We are in a very good position and hopefully that will continue.”

One aspect of the Silkmen’s form Askey is looking to improve are home displays, with a number of impressive away performances already recorded this season.

“Our away form has been excellent and if we can reproduce that at home then we would be quite a few points clear. We have just got to keep doing what we are doing away from home and hopefully the home form will come."
