Macclesfield Town manager John Askey was left extremely satisfied after his team ran out 2-0 winners against Barrow on Saturday.
A first goal in Macclesfield colours for Jared Hodgkiss and an Elliot Durrell strike shortly after the hour mark was enough for the Silkmen to pick up all three points at Holker Street.
The result pushed Askey’s side back into second place in the National League table. Lying just one place behind leaders Dover going into the home game against Boreham Wood next weekend.
Askeyd told Silkmen TV that he felt his team could score every time they went forward during the afternoon’s performance.
“We caused them a lot of problems,” John said. “It really was a great team performance.
“Going forward we always looked like we had a goal in us, and we looked like we could score every time we went forward on Saturday. Obviously, I didn’t expect it to be Jared, but again it was another well-worked goal. An excellent team goal to score.
“I think we kept the ball for about 15 passes in that move, with Jared getting a give and go with Danny (Whitaker) to get in the position to score. It was just what we’d needed after recent results.”
The manager also went on to say that the manner of the team’s performance, in the game, shows that recent games were just a blip in form.
“Our form is good in regard to points and if we keep performing like we did on Saturday, then we’re likely to win games and continue to be as high as we can in the table.
“Hopefully we can keep doing that and push on.”
