As Saturday’s game with Aldershot approaches, manager John Askey is happy with his players after they bounced back from the home defeat to Maidstone, to beat a solid Torquay side last weekend.

The need to bounce back from defeat is something Askey was keen to emphasize:

“In the home game (against Maidstone United) we were shocking so after a loss like that and especially the performance it was really important we got back to winning ways against Torquay and our record over the course of the season following defeats has been promising.”

Following the away victory to Torquay, his side will be in positive spirits as they face a tricky visit from Aldershot to the Moss Rose stadium.

“I think Aldershot were one of the favourites to go up at the start of the season and the players that they have got, they are a good team. I thought they may have broken away at the top but they haven’t. I think it will be a tight game again and hopefully a win for us!”

Askey and his side will be looking to build a successful home run together, in front of the Silkmen faithful who have been supportive and vocal all season.

“I think it is important because obviously you want the home support to see us win and have something to cheer about and be up there at the end of the season.”
