Macclesfield Town boss John Askey says his side is brimming with confidence as he gave the low down on the team news for this weekend’s game with Solihull.
The manager was pleased to report that there are no injuries amongst the players, and that the squad are all looking forward to the next game.
“If they’re not now, they never will be!” Askey joked, asked if his players were confident. “They’re all looking forward to each game that comes, but we’ve got 18 games left to give it everything we’ve got to try and achieve something special.”
The festive scheduling can be a test of fitness for many teams, but John says he was glad to see his players come through mostly unscathed.
He said: “We’ve been fortunate. Things have worked out great. At the moment, everybody is fit and available.”
With the squad unbeaten in their last ten games, Askey says he is delighted with the form, and even more happy to see a bit of consistency both at home and on the road.
“We’ve only lost three at home and we’ve lost three away. There’s very little difference between our home and away form, it’s just that teams will come to the Moss and set up to try and frustrate us.
“Sometimes I think we’ve had that little bit of luck away from home that has been lacking at times, a goal can change a game dramatically and make teams come out at you.”
The boss also took the chance to thank the fans for their support, noting the unified backing of his players as only a positive factor as they dream of success.
He added: “We’ve been really good and what’s been pleasing is the supporters backing the players 100% and really pushing us on, seeing that we really could achieve something.
“We’re hoping for another good gate, and hopefully we’ve convinced those who came over the festive season who maybe haven’t been before to come again. We’ve got to do our job on the pitch, but I’m sure if we’re winning everything else will take care of itself.”
