Koby Arthur says The Silkmen are very pleased following their 5-0 demolition of Stourbridge in the final qualifying round of the FA Cup.
Macclesfield Town booked their place in the first round proper after the convincing away win, with goals coming from Whitehead, Durrell, Marsh, Burgess and Arthur himself.
Speaking after the game, Arthur said John Askey had spoken to the squad ahead of a key match for the football club.
He said: “The gaffer spoke to us about the game. It’s hard to come a long way and it’s an important match. We listened to what the gaffer said and the lads worked hard and we’ve managed to get five goals and get the win.
The win means Macc have now won their last five games in all competitions and are in fine form ahead of a very testing trip to Leyton Orient next weekend.
With the squad in such fine form, it’s been difficult to weave a way into the starting eleven, but Koby believes he’s taken his chance well.
“The manager tells me I should be direct all the time, so when I picked the ball up I had to do what he said!” Koby joked. “It was a good win and obviously I set up Marshy and the gaffer just told me to go out in the second half and keep doing what I was doing, and I got my goal. It’s a good feeling.”
