A message from Club Chairman Mark Blower
With a break from National League action this forthcoming weekend, I wanted to take the opportunity to reflect on a very successful start to the 2017/18 season and to thank everybody associated with the Football Club for their support throughout the campaign so far.
Special praise must go to the players, John and his backroom staff for the success being seen on the pitch. Saturday’s victory over Ebbsfleet means that we are top of the table, a fantastic achievement given the significant changes to the playing squad ahead of the new season.
It was a great performance and played in front of a crowd of 1,635. That is testament not only to being top of the league but also to the work that went on behind the scenes to promote the game. Hopefully, we can maintain this momentum on and off the pitch.
Yesterday we released the news that Steve Watson is leaving the Football Club to take up the managerial role at Gateshead. Whilst we are disappointed to see Steve go, he has made no secret of his desire to be a Manager and so it should be viewed as a positive for the Club in that our success has enabled him to achieve this. We wish him well.
Off the pitch, the on-going efforts to improve the financial standing of the Club have taken a further step forward this week when Amar Alkadhi on behalf of Ramy Limited, Andy Scott, Mike Rance and Jeremy Turner wrote off monies owed to them by the Football Club, which in the case of the individuals dated back to their time as Directors.
The responsible management of the finances of the Football Club remains key and gestures like this make a significant impact, so thank you.
And as we head towards the start of another FA Cup campaign, we can enjoy being on top of the league as we seek to be 'in the hat' for the First Round proper.
Nothing is ever perfect, but there is currently a lot to be positive about, so please keep supporting the Football Club in every way you can and encourage others to do so too.
