John Askey took his Silkmen side up to the North East four years ago today, as his side registered their first win in nine games against Gateshead.
The visitors began the game in the ascendancy, with the deadlock being broke with just seven minutes on the clock. Reece Styche broke free of the Gateshead defence, before calmly rounding Sam Russell and slotting into an empty net.
Sixteen minutes later one became two as the home defence struggled to deal with a Danny Rowe corner and there was Styche to secure this second goal of the game from close-range.
In what proved to be a volatile contest at times, Askey's men continued the onslaught on the Gateshead net as they tried to end the game as a contest before the interval.
Danny Whitaker and Jack Sampson could well have extended our lead before the half-time break, yet the visitors carried on in the same vein during the second period as the play-off-seeking Heed were limited to mainly speculative efforts at Shwan Jalal's goal.
An emphatic victory was complete three minutes from time when Styche hit a stunning strike from outside the area to hand Macc a comprehensive 3 - 0 victory, whilst also claiming the match ball courtesy of a wonderful three-goal haul.
