This weekend was different from a normal away game, as it we made our way to Home Park - home of Plymouth Argyle which was over a 500 mile round trip!
After travelling down to Torquay on Friday with Moose Tours, I was incredibly excited for the match as it was one of three stadiums I had yet to visit in League 2!
After heading into Torquay on the Friday, I was up early on Saturday ready for the game. After a walk round the seafront, we made our way to Plymouth.
The team news came through whilst we were still on the coach. The only changes being Danny Whitehead and David Fitzpatrick returning to the starting eleven again.
Plymouth got us underway with Macclesfield attacking the goal closest to the travelling army of Macc fans. We settled in well with Theo Archibald and Joe Ironside both attempting to find a opener but sadly neither could find it!
Only moments later Plymouth thought they had found the opening goal but it was disallowed by the referee following a handball. The game went back and forth for a while, until a breakthrough finally occurs but sadly it was not for us.
Macclesfield continued the first half pressing but we went in to the break 1-0 down.
The second half kicked-off with Macc searching for a equaliser. It looked to have been found in the 60th minute but a Plymouth defender somehow managed to head Joe Ironside's shot over the bar.
Two minutes later Plymouth doubled their lead with a powerful shot finding its way past Jonathan Mitchell.
Macclesfield continued to attack. However in the 77th minute Plymouth scored their third and the final goal of the game, leaving 111 traveling supporters, Macclesfield fans everywhere and a passionate, dedicated team heartbroken.
This club isn’t about players or fans it is about a family brought together by football. Who are and will always continue to fight for each other against all the odds that are thrown at them.
We now look to Saturday when we welcome Walsall to the Moss Rose.
See you there!
