The Academy are now into their sixth week of socially distanced pre-season training at nine different venues.
This has allowed the coaches to see over seventy of their academy lads around the Cheshire and Greater Manchester area, as they prepare for their full-time football programme which starts in September. The close season has given the Academy a chance to recruit new coaching and media staff.
In June an advertisement for new academy coaches went out and Youth Development Manager Paul McGuire was inundated with applicants for the various positions.
The Academy media team has now recruited six new students who are passionate about fulfilling roles such as filming and editing games to creating match reports/reviews and conducting interviews with players throughout the season.
Looking ahead to August, new recruits will have open days at Macclesfield College, with the College Football Academy course staring at the beginning of September. We are still awaiting confirmation from the EFL CEFA League as to when the league will be starting.
As soon as the EFL CEFA League release further details on this then we will provide a further update. In line with recently updated guidance from the FA and the UK Government, we are also happy to announce that from the middle of August there will be competitive pre-season friendlies around the Cheshire and Manchester area which will allow the coaches to see our new recruits in action.
The Academy have games lined up against a variety of opposition - so it will be a great test for every player on show.
Look out for more details on fixtures dates and times to follow soon.
We will be speaking to Youth Development Manager Paul McGuire later today, so make sure that you check back to hear more about the latest goings-on within our Academy.
