Macclesfield Town Football Academy are happy to announce that Rocco Fregapane has been named Academy Player of the Year.
Since joining the Academy back in September, Rocco has been a model student at Macclesfield College and has also shone on the football pitch.
Operating at left-back or at centre-back, Fregapane has been an ever-present at training and has gone from strength to strength as he represented the first team in the Emirates FA Cup, appeared in both the FA Youth Cup and the Cheshire Senior Cup, whilst also being an ever-present in the U21 side.
During the season, Rocco played twenty-five times for Macclesfield Town across the various competitions, amassing three goals in the process.
His performances haven't gone unnoticed either, as throughout the season he has been invited to attend first team training alongside other Academy players.
Youth Development Manager Paul McGuire had this to say about Rocco -
"For the most part, Rocco has looked a class above and his all-round composure and ability has been a pleasure to work with.
"We all knew that Rocco came highly regarded and representing Manchester United and England shows what he is capable of.
"For us to have a player of this ability is great and in fairness, he has not put a foot wrong all season.
"His attitude and professionalism both within his football and college development have been an example to all.
"He was a stand-out player in the Emirates FA Cup Round 1 game against Kingstonian and I think most of the crowd there that day picked him out as having enormous potential.
"Another stand out moment was his volleyed goal for the Under 21s at Platt Lane, a classy finish at the back post showed he can defend and attack equally as well.”
Check back tomorrow, when we will continue the unveiling of our end of season awards by naming the Academy Player's Player of the Year.
