Opposition View: Northampton Town (H)

31 January 2020

The Silkmen host sixth-placed Northampton Town this Saturday, as Mark Kennedy’s side look to maintain their strong form at Moss Rose in Sky Bet League Two.

The Cobblers come into the match currently eight unbeaten in all competitions, last tasting defeat on Boxing Day against Crawley Town. Since then, Keith Curle’s side have won five and drawn three matches.

Northampton have performed on multiple fronts, beating League One side Burton Albion 4-2, as well as taking Derby County to a replay after drawing nil nil last week in the FA Cup.

They most recently despatched Scunthorpe United 3-0 at Sixfields Stadium, which helped push them to just three points off the automatic promotion places.

Manager Comments:

Curle said the following ahead of tomorrow's match -

“Macclesfield have a very good home record and it can be a difficult place to go but we had a good result there last season and I think it’s about your mental approach.

“Our focus is on what we do individually and collectively and players have benchmarks to hit in every game.

“We are competing for three points and our mental preparation will be in tune.

“It was a very professional performance on Tuesday and after the hype and the euphoria of the Derby game it was important for us to turn up both individually and collectively.
