Our Under 21s side were clear winners in this afternoons fixture against a physical and well organised St. Helens Town side.
They youngsters secured all three points with goals from Fragapane, Knight (2), Kyobe and James.
The opening goal came in the 24 minute. A cross from the right from Lewis Price was latched onto by Fragapane and he produced a sublime volley to fire Macc into the lead.
On the stroke of half-time Tyler James was brought down in the box which resulted in a penalty. Trevor Kyobe initially took the spot-kick, but the referee brought it back as the 'keeper wasn’t on his line. The re-taken penalty was taken by Callum Knight and slammed home to double our lead.
Macc started the second half in the same vein as they had ended the first and would extend their lead when Trevor Kobe reacted first to a loose ball in the box, before calmly slotting home.
Callum Knight then added a fourth with a close-range header which gave the visiting 'keeper little chance of stopping.
The rout was completed by Tyler James, as he headed Macc's fifth goal in the closing stages of the contest.
We caught up with Manager Paul McGuire after the game and he said -
“That’s it now, that’s what we expect at Macclesfield Town.
"That was fantastic today.
"We always said that in the second half of the season we would kick on and today was just the start of that.”
