The under 19s 'A' team traveled north to the Keepmoat Stadium yesterday, as they face fourth-place Doncaster Rovers in the EFL CEFA North Central One League.
The visitors got off to the perfect start when on 9 minutes a short Doncaster goal-kick was tenaciously closed down by Trevor Kyobe - who then played in Tyler James to slot home his now customary goal.
On 11 minutes Trevor Kyobe was involved once again, as a Tyler James header re-bounded off the cross-bar allowing Kyobe to score from close range.
This was to be repeated on 16 minutes, as Kyobe once again scored after a re-bound from a Tyler James shot to put the Silkmen three-goals up.
On 26 minutes Tyler James beats the Rovers full-back with some fine skill out wide, before deliciously assisting Ramani Manning for a tap-in to make it four.
The hosts simply could not handle the Silkmen's attacking prowess, as wave after wave of attacks resulted in a our fifth goal. This time, Liam Logan scored a fine solo goal with a shot from just inside the box.
Doncaster did grab a first half consolation goal with pretty much their first attack, but the Silkmen youngsters were not finished there as on 43 minutes captain Sean Holland slammed in a free-kick from the edge of the box. to send Paul McGuire's side into the break with an emphatic 6 - 1 advantage.
Following a host of halftime changes in order to rest some legs for next week's cup semi-final, the game became a scrappy, end to end encounter.
The hosts did claim two well-taken goals, whilst Tyler James and Ivan Teixeria converted for the Silkmen to finalise the scoring at 8 - 3.
Sheffield Wednesday's narrow 2 - 1 away victory against city rivals Sheffield United, allowed the Silkmen to jump into top spot on goal difference.
