Mark: "We Are Looking Forward To Imposing Ourselves On The Game"

8 February 2020

Mark Kennedy is excited for his team’s latest challenge, as Macclesfield Town take on Leyton Orient at The Breyer Group Stadium this afternoon.

The Silkmen will be looking to do the league double over Orient, having secured a 3-0 win when the side’s last met at the Moss Rose back in August..

Mark believes that the squad has settled down since the transfer window closed and admits that a full week of training has been a massive positive ahead of the clash.

Speaking ahead of the game, he said: “I'm looking forward to it- I am reallyexcited. The big plus for us is that the transfer window is closed so the phone has settled down.

“I have managed to get a couple of players out and a couple of players in. So we’ve got the players we’ve identified and we’ve given opportunities for other lads to go elsewhere to progress their careers.

“So that’s settled the squad down much more.

"More importantly, for the first time since I’ve been in we’ve actually had time on the grass. So we’ve had a really good week and I’m looking forward to continuing that on Saturday.”

Leyton Orient currently sit in 18th place in Sky Bet League Two, but have won two of their last three games and Mark is expecting another tough challenge against The O’s.

“I think it will be a really good – really tough test.

"I keep saying this, but every game is a tough game. We’re not going to have an easy game this year. One thing that you can be sure of is whoever we play we certainly won’t have an easy game.

“That's true whether it’s Swindon at the top or Stevenage who unfortunately for them are down the bottom.

"But it’ll certainly be a different game compared to the last two games against Northampton and Newport.

"They’re coming off the back of a really strong performance against Stevenage and the two games previous to that they had a very good wins at home as well.

"So their form is pretty good, it’s pretty strong. It’s a huge, huge club especially for League Two.

“They’ll be well-supported but we’re looking forward to imposing ourselves on the game and focusing on what we need to do.

"My mindset and my focus will always be on us, what we do and how we’re going to go about it.”
