Macclesfield Town would like to provide an update regarding the appointment of a new First Team Manager ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
Firstly, the volume and quality of applications received by the Football Club proved to be very encouraging - with a high number of quality candidates putting their names forward.
After completing due diligence on them all, those who we believe to match our requirements best were progressed to the next stage of the process.
This involved ongoing communication with the relevant people in order to ensure that we make the correct choice for the Football Club.
Whilst it is understandable that we cannot divulge the identities of the individuals who have made it to the final stages of the selection process, what we can do is give an insight into the factors which we are placing a vast amount of importance on as we reach the conclusion our search.
Firstly, it is the job of the potential Manager to convince us that their team will not only be hard to beat, but also will win games of football in a manner which will make us attractive to watch. This may seem an obvious pre-requisite, but further to this, the Club are actively looking to appoint someone with a proven track-record of success in this regard.
With the squad clearly requiring numbers, it is vital that we balance the urgency of this without compromising on quality. As such, we will be placing a great amount of weight on our new Manager's contacts in the game and their ability to construct a successful team within a limited time-frame.
It therefore follows that pro-activity and forward thinking will be central to the qualities exemplified by the successful candidate.
Whilst we do recognise that this ongoing process may well be proving to be frustrating for many of our supporters, it is imperative that the right choice is made for Macclesfield Town.
We are working absolutely flat-out to conclude this within the very near future and will provide a further update as soon as we are able.
