Reflecting On A Busy Weekend For The Silkmen Elite Development Squad

17 August 2020

It proved to be a hectic weekend for Macclefield Town Elite Development Squad, as a total of fifty-four players turned out over the course of three matches.

The first of these took place on Saturday, as the EDS took on senior opposition in the form of Cheshire Premier Division side, Poynton.

Five lads made their debuts during the game, which saw the visitors take the lead after 20 minutes through Tyler James.

Shortly after, James made it two when Trevor Kyobe's deflected shot was only half cleared by the Poynton defence.

The hosts halved the deficit just after the interval, yet James was to restore our two-goal cushion minutes later as he completed his hat-trick.

Seven minutes later, Poynton reduced the arrears once more and levelled the contest with four minutes remaining with an emphatic strike into the top corner of the net.

Following on from this, the EDS completed a double-header at Egerton FC yesterday.

The first game saw the lads take on Egerton Under 17s and came away with a spirited 4 - 1 victory.

Callum Marsh opened the scoring in the first half and this was added to by Zach Box, Freddie Powell and Aaron White during the second period.

Finally, a second EDS XI then went on to take on Egerton Under 18s and despite Jamie Jensen finding the back of the net, succumbed to a 6 - 1 defeat.

We will be bringing you reaction to all these games later on today.
