Macclesfield Town are deeply saddened to learn of Norman and May Cunningham's passing recently.
Norman was a devoted and much-loved member of our Silkmen family, having followed the Club for well over seven decades.
Aged 91, he had stuck with his Club throughout so many pivotal moments in our history and in doing so, made so many friends here at the Moss Rose.
He was undoubtedly a familiar face both at home and away games over the years and was well-known as a very approachable, kind-hearted gentleman whose devotion to our Club never wavered.
A season ticket holder, Norman's infectious smile and quick-witted personality will be sorely missed by everyone at Macclesfield Town - yet in the memories he did so much to create, his legacy will continue in so many of us.
Indeed, the family have confirmed to us that they will continue to purchase Norman's season ticket in his memory and donate it to a well-deserving supporter each year.
Words really don't suffice in order to describe the generosity of this gesture and we will ensure that Norman will never, ever be forgotten here at the Moss Rose. He gave us a lifetime of support and in the hearts and minds of us all, he will always remain.
In addition to this sad news, we were also incredibly moved to hear that Norman's cherished wife May had also passed away ten days prior at the age of 83.
Many of our supporters will have known May through Norman and our hearts go out to all their family and friends at this very difficult time.
The funerals of both Norman and May will be held tomorrow (Monday 27th April) at 2pm and although these will be strictly private due to the current social distancing measures, we invite you all to raise a glass to them both at this time.
A memorial gathering will be arranged at the Moss Rose when external conditions allow, with the proceeds being kindly donated to the Silkmen Supporters Trust.
