As a result of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Macclesfield Town can confirm that we have placed all our players, backroom staff and the vast majority of office staff on furlough leave.
In doing so, we become eligible for financial support under the Government's Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS).
Additionally, all affected employees will have their salaries made up to the full value of their normal wage and in line with the terms of their furlough agreement.
This will unquestionably help to safeguard the roles of all those employed by the Football Club. Yet this isn't to say that these uncharted times won't present us with unique challenges which we will need to navigate.
Like every single business out there, we are in many ways engulfed within the great unknown and have to react to what is thrown at us in the best way we can.
With the indefinite suspension of professional football, we had to take steps to protect the long-term viability of the Football Club and furloughing provides us with tangible benefits in this respect.
We are not only thankful to the Chancellor Rishi Sunak for giving us the opportunity to take advantage of the CJRS, but also to all those employees who agreed to the terms of this in a positive and timely manner.
In order for the Football Club to continue operating during this period, skeleton staff will continue to be employed under the normal terms of their contracts.
For obvious reasons, any enquiries to the Football Club may take slightly longer than normal to respond to - but you can be assured that they will be dealt with in the quickest time possible.
A further update will be provided in due course.
