STAY INtertoto Cup: Sheffield Wednesday Preview

22 April 2020

Sheffield Wednesday stand in the way of a Stay Intertoto Cup quarter final place for Reice Charles-Cook and his Macclesfield Town side.

Todays two-legged fixture will be held at 6pm with Reice going head to head with Owls forward Jordan O’Brien.

The Silkmen will be buoyed by their thrashing of Morecambe in the previous round as they smashed ten goals past the Shrimps, but O’Brien will surely provide a tougher test for Reice today.

Wednesday are unbeaten so far in the tournament after a comfortable 8-3 aggregate victory over Grimsby Town in the Round of 32. They finished top of their group scoring 14 goals in the process, sweeping away Newport County and Fulham before edging past Sunderland.

The man in the dugout is 19 year-old Jordan O’Brien who was signed from Corby Town in December 2017.

Sheffield Wednesday fans may spot a familiar face in this afternoons Macc line-up as on-loan midfielder Connor Kirby will play against his parent club. O’Brien played alongside Kirby for the Owls in the early stages of pre-season, which will surely provide another interesting dynamic to this evenings fixture.

A link for the game will be posted on our social media channels prior to kick-off.

Let’s get behind Reice and push him into the final eight of the Stay Intertoto Cup!
