Match Preview: Macclesfield Town vs Colchester United

28 September 2019

Macclesfield Town return to Sky Bet League Two action this afternoon as we prepare to face Colchester United at the Moss Rose.

After our midweek defeat at the hands of Port Vale, Daryl and the team will be looking to bounce back against the U’s.

This is what Daryl had to say ahead of the match:

We hope to see as many of you as possible at the game tomorrow to cheer the team on to a positive result; and remember that you are welcome to arrive early to watch Sheffield United vs Liverpool in the McIlroy Suite.

As for our opposition, Colchester come into the game having knocked Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur out of the Carabao Cup in midweek.

They find themselves in tenth place in the Sky Bet League Two standings after ten fixtures, having accumulated fifteen points courtesy of four victories and three draws.

Their last league match saw them overcome Leyton Orient 2-1 and they are unbeaten in their last three matches in all competitions coming into this afternoon’s fixture.

Having played their two most recent fixtures at home, Colchester’s most recent away fixture was played at Swindon Town on the 17th August; a match the U’s won 3-0.

Colchester defender Brandon Comley had this to say ahead of the match:

“We switch straight back on to the Saturday game and playing our usual fixtures.

“We’re focused on winning the game and we’ll be back straight on it this weekend.

“We have got a very good squad this year and if someone’s tired, someone else can go in and replace them and it won’t weaken the side – I think that’s the case this year.”
