Charlotte's Chat

23 September 2019

Saturday’s game saw us make the long trip up to Cleethorpes for the third time in just under a month. I’m beginning to wonder if I should just buy a season ticket for there! However as you all know I was born a Macc fan and I shall always remain one!

Following on from our fantastic showing against Newport on Tuesday evening, I went to Grimsby full of optimism of getting a result of some sort although I knew it would be a very hard-fought battle.

I took my seat and had a look at the team news for the afternoon, unsurprisingly Daryl had stuck with the same starting eleven from Tuesday game.

Macc got us underway, but Grimsby definitely settled first with Miles Welch - Hayes making a crucial block in the 12th minute to deny Grimsby a opener.

Macc continued to try and find a opportunity on goal - one finally falling to Jay Harris in the 19th minute which the Grimsby keeper forced out for a corner.

We went in to the break all level.

Grimsby got us underway for the second half. Once again they start the better side and I know in my heart that a goal is coming, I also know it’s not going to come for a player in blue.

Devastatingly it comes on the 56th minute when a powerful strike hits the back of the net giving Owen Evans little to no chance of stopping!

Although disappointed with the result, I honestly don’t think we deserved anything from the game as a whole but it is only one game and I know that we will bounce-back from it.

Now we move on together, on to Tuesday in the Leasing.Com Trophy against Port Vale which will see the return of John Askey in the away dug-out.

See you all at there!
