Tuesday night games at the Moss are always something which I look forward to - despite the fact that I knew it would be a tough one against The Exiles of Newport.
The team news is announce just as we were making our way to the ground and it saw a starts for Virgil Gomis and Arthur Gnahoua.
It was a fairly cool evening and Newport got us underway - they were attacking the goal to the Star Lane End in the first half.
Devastatingly this goal saw the first of the evenings action when Newport took the lead in the opening moments.
This really was a shock and our players then really kicked in to action.
This was more like the team that we have been seeing in games recently - full of confidence, determination and togetherness.
Play went back and forth with us having our fair amount of possession and shots. I knew it was a matter of time before we found a equaliser and it arrived in the 18th minute thanks Emmanuel Osadebe who slotted it in to the back of the net.
There were several chances for Macc before half time, but unfortunately, none of them hit the back of the net.
Newport started the second half strongly in the opening few minutes. However Macc started to come into the game again and were desperately unlucky not to get the second goal.
I really can’t wait for Saturday now even though it’s another trip to Cleethorpes to play Grimsby.
Let's hope that we come away with all three points.
See you all there!
