Danny:"Hopefuly We Will Put In A Fantastic Performance"

14 September 2019

Macclesfield Town are on road for the second time in five days, with a visit to Swindon Town this afternoon and Assistant Head Coach Danny Whitaker says it is one that the lads will go into full of confidence.

“It’s like any game in League Two, it’s going to be difficult we know that” admitted Whitaker.

“Whether you’re home or away every game is going to be difficult, but we’ll go into the match with confidence and look to take the game to them looking for the three points.”

Despite a Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Grimsby Town on Tuesday night, Whitaker has taken the positives out of what turned out to be a frustrating evening for The Silkmen.

It’s not nice to lose on penalties but overall the lads played brilliantly”.

“They put a great shift in, defended well, attacked well and caused them problems - we were just unlucky not to produce that bit of magic in the final third that would have ultimately won us the game.

“But going to penalties is a lottery and it’s anyone’s game then - but we go into the Swindon game full of confidence.

Swindon Town have had great start the new campaign and currently reside sit in fourth place, yet our Magic Man insists that they are beatable.

“They are beatable like anyone in the league.

"Anyone can beat anyone which makes this league and this season so enjoyable. You just don’t know what can happen whether you’re home and away, anyone can beat anyone. It’s about whoever turns up on the day and puts in the best performance.”

The Silkmen fell to defeat twice against Swindon last season - courtesy of an injury time winners in both fixtures. As a result, it would be even sweeter to claim maximum points tomorrow as Danny alluded to -

“Well it is you’re not wrong there, everyone is aware of what happened last season and that’s what happens in football, so hopefully the boot will be on the other foot tomorrow and we will walk away with three points.”

Finally, Danny paid tribute to the wonderfully loyal support that we have been given so far this season -

“It’s not easy, trips up and down the country - but stick with us. We appreciate your support - it does help us on the pitch so your support we be more than welcomed.

"Hopefully we will put in a fantastic performance for you and take the three points home.”
