Match Preview: Macclesfield Town vs Port Vale

11 October 2019

Macclesfield Town return to the Moss Rose tomorrow, as we take on near-neighbours Port Vale in our next Sky Bet League Two encounter.

The Silkmen come into the game on the back of consecutive draws; the most recent of which being last Saturday’s 2-2 away at Cambridge United.

We caught up with Head Coach Daryl McMahon to get his thoughts ahead of the game:

Our visitors come into the match in good form, with four victories and five draws helping them up to tenth place in the Sky Bet League Two standings on 17 points.

Vale are unbeaten in their last four in all competitions going into this weekend’s tie, a streak Daryl and the team will be looking to break tomorrow afternoon.

Their most recent outing saw them overcome Morecambe at Vale Park by a 3-1 score line; with Tom Pope netting two of Vale’s goals.

Vale manager John Askey had this to say ahead of the match:

"Our players are confident, they've [Macclesfield] had a few draws, not won for a while so obviously we're in a better position than them at the moment but every game is different, we've got to make sure we're up for this game and we perform like we have done.

"We know the importance of Saturday's game, it's a massive game for us because if we can get to 20 points after 13 games, it puts us in a real good position."
