Last Saturday’s postponement makes it three away games in a row for Macc! This weekend were off to Carlisle United and ahead of the long trip to Brunton Park, we’ve gathered everything you need to know in our latest instalment of Away Day Blues.
250 Warwick Road
Distance from Moss Rose: 137.7 miles
Estimated travel time: 2 hours 30 minutes
About the Ground:
Brunton Park has been the home of Carlisle United since 1909 and is the largest stadium in England which is not all seated with a capacity of 17,949. The stadium has endured its fair share of disasters after its grandstand burnt down in 1953, followed by two floods in a decade (2005 and 2015). The ground is quite unique to any other in the country as the Pioneer East Stand runs 20 yards past the goal line on one end, resulting in the stand being noticeably off centre. A complete stadium rebuild alongside plans to move the pitch a few yards north fell through and thus, left Carlisle with a stand that is just off the half way line.
