Tuesday evening saw us travel down the M6 again, this time to Gloucestershire to visit The Jonny-Rocks Stadium - home of Cheltenham.
I remember this fixture last season, it was so cold when we played them back in January. I also remember that we lost that day and wrongly saw Nathan Cameron sent off. I was hoping for a different result this time round.
Both teams went in to the game following wins on their travels last Saturday.
The teams were announced as we were approaching the ground, one enforced changed to the starting eleven for the Silkmen. Jak McCourt in for the suspended Jay Harris. David Fitzpatrick was also named in the squad and took his place on the bench.
The game kicked-off and once again we were attacking the goal furthest to us. It started at a frantic pace as both teams looked to claim an early advantage.
The Silkmen continued to play their usual passing game and there were half opportunities for both team but annoyingly the first goal of the game came in the 44th minute and it went to The Robins.
The second half kicked-off and the noise increased. Cheltenham were attacking the goal towards their own fans and they would double their lead in the 59th minute.
The Silkmen continued to chase the game but sadly it never looked like we were going to gain anything from this game.
This thought was reinforced when Virgil Gomis' goal was disallowed when he was adjudged to be offside.
Minutes later our fate was not only sealed when Cheltenham made it 3 - 0 in the 77th minute.
This was how the game finished and then the long journey back home began.
See you all on Saturday for the visit of Bradford City!
