Last Saturday we were on our travels again, but it was a relatively short journey over to Boundary Park - the home of Oldham Athletic.
On the way to the ground a unchanged team was announced and we were on the hunt for our back-to-back wins, whereas Oldham were looking to bounce-back after their result the previous weekend.
Oldham got the game underway and they were attacking towards the Silkmen fans. The travelling fans really made themselves heard - roaring the side on from the first minute of the game.
Macclesfield started out at a pace once again and definitely looked the more dangerous of the two teams. Macc were controlling the game's possession with fluent, confident, passing football - but despite this, there were no clear cut chances on goal.
We went in to the break with the deadlock still intact - yet despite the half-time score, I just knew that we were going to pick up another three points from the game.
The second half kicked-off and we were attacking the goal in front of the Silkmen fans who remained in very fine voice.
The second period saw opportunities for both teams, however it was to be the Silkmen’s afternoon. In the 80th minute Jak McCourt took to the field in place of Connor Kirby.
Then in the 86th minute up stepped the very same player to take a free-kick that had been awarded to the Silkmen.
It was a fantastically taken free-kick that flew into the back of the net. This signalled celebrations to really start in the Chadderton Road End.
The team remain professional and concentrated on the job at hand and finished the game deserved winners.
The scenes at the end of the game really were magical - everyone stood together as one and it was great to see.
See you all at Cheltenham where we will look to secure our third straight victory!
