Sheffield United Under 19 A 1 v 4 Macclesfield Town Under 19 A. EFL - CEFA National Cup.
An emphatic victory at the home of The Blades' Academy saw the Silkmens u19 'A team' finish the EFL CEFA National Cup Northern Section Group L in top spot.
The Silkmen travelled across the Peak District knowing that three points would see them reach the knock-out stages in January.
The game got off to the perfect start when on 8 minutes Trevor Kyobe finished from close range capping off some early dominance from the Silkmen.
With the hosts never really getting a foothold in the game, it was the Silkmen who soon doubled their lead. Good build-up play on the left-hand side, saw the ball squared to Ramani Manning who calmly took a touch out of his feet and slammed the ball into the bottom corner to double our lead.
The Blades fought in vain as the Silkmen youngsters dominated proceedings with constant attacks towards the host's goal. This constant pressure ultimately brought about the third goal, as Liam Logan powered through the inside left position to slam a fierce shot into the roof of the net past the Blades goalkeeper. to make it 3 - 0.
United did manage to get a goal back with 8 minutes to play, after some slack defending allow the ball to be nudged home following a corner kick.
But the goal of the game came with just 5 minutes left, as the Silkmen's Tyler James unleashed an unstoppable volley high into the far corner of the Blades' goal.
Manager Paul McGuire said: "We've finished top, and that was our aim. Only the top team from all 12 groups are guaranteed to go through.
"To be honest on paper we had a tough group and we didn't want to have to rely on being a best runner-up.
"We're a real threat it this competition, we'll look forward to the draw and a knock out tie in January".
