Under 19s A Team Secure Emphatic Victory

21 November 2019

Macclesfield Town u19 A emerged victorious against Rotherham United ‘A’ yesterday, as the Silkmen eased to a 6-1 victory in a cold and blustery Sheffield.

Tyler James opened the scoring in familiar fashion to get the Silkmen off to a perfect start.

However this was soon cancelled out as the referee somehow awarded the home side a penalty, as he adjudged there was a push in the box after a long throw in. The United striker stepped up to squeeze the ball past Stockton to equalize for the Millers.

The visitors started the game brightest and they re-gained the lead through Trevor Kyobe, as he struck from close range to give the Silkmen into the lead. 1-2.

Tyler James added another for the Silkmen cutting inside and finishing well, grabbing his second of the match to give Macc a 3 - 1 half-time lead.

The home side could not contain Macc’s creativity throughout most of the second half. Several moments of brilliant link up play between Fregapane, Price and James led to openings which resulted in Price adding a clinical fourth.

The midfielders starting to dominate with Holland pulling the strings and unleashing a fierce drive just over the Millers bar.

Close control just inside the box from Price allowed him jinx into the box, and curl past the helpless Simpson in the United goal for his second of the game to extend our lead to 5 - 1

The sixth  came after a dominant period of football from Macc - some excellent build up play around the edge of the box set Nabil Ghazaoui through on goal, who calmly slotted past Simpson to score on his A team debut.

Final Score: Rotherham United U19 A 1 - 6 Macclesfield Town U19 A.

Manager McGuire commented: "That was a good show of character today, we want to remain unbeaten as long as we can and needed them three points to remain at the top of the league.

"After the first 10 minutes it looked like it could be a tough day, but the lads kept disciplined and played good creative football right until the end.

"We should have scored more, but we're pleased with the performance especially with the 4 or 5 players missing and we'll look forward to Sheffield United away in the cup next week”.
