The Silkmen exited the FA Cup in the first round after a 4-0 defeat to Kingstonian at the Moss Rose on Sunday.
A young Macclesfield Town side was made up by loan signings and Macclesfield Youth Development players who were making their debut for the senior team.
We caught up with Head Coach Daryl McMahon to catch his thoughts on the tough result.
“I’m very proud of the players, I thought they were excellent today. Six 16-year-olds made their debut today, which is a massive positive and shows all the work the academy has done.”
We then went on to ask Daryl about what these players could’ve learned from the game –
“They learned a lot; they’ve been in the first-team environment and played in front of a crowd. Playing in the FA Cup first-round as a 16-year-old a lot of dreams have come true.”
“It’s a tough game playing against experienced players and they played well for the whole 90 minutes.”
Daryl will be adamant on turning his sides attention to Wednesday’s Leasing.Com trophy fixture away from home against Shrewsbury Town at the Montgomery Waters Meadow Stadium.
