We continue our look back at the memorable games of last season by taking you back to 28th August, when the Silkmen progressed through to the Carabao Cup Third Round for the first time in our history.
This came as a result of a pulsating victory at Walsall in the Second Round of the competition and our second penalty shoot-out victory in the space of the opening month of the season.
Mark Yates' side took an early lead when Jamie Grimes fired home from close range in the tenth minute and our lead was doubled fifteen minutes later when Harry Smith drilled an ferocious drive into the far corner for our second.
Kieron Morris reduced the arrears just after the half-hour mark, before two goals in the space of a minute put the hosts into the ascendancy.
Macc pushed and pushed in a bid to restore parity and did so with seconds remaining as Tyrone Marsh's tantalising ball into the area was converted by Danny Whitaker.
The magic was far from over at this point however, as three stunning penalty saves by Kieran O'Hara sent Macc through to face West Ham United at the Olympic Stadium.
